Tanner Dance - U of U, Utah

University of Utah

When the University of Utah in Salt Lake City decided to grant the Tanner Dance company the space where there was formerly a pre-historic museum, the need arose to find a solution for an incredibly long reverberation time (RT60) in this space. The building falls under historic preservation status and so it was imperative not to disturb too much of the unique architectural features of the room.

The solution presented by RealAcoustix was to hang complementary RealAB ceiling panels and wall panels to absorb the gross reflections in the room. there was a greater than 6 second reduction in RT with the treatments provided that now makes the space very nice for the training of young dancers on the campus. It also allows for the historic architecture to still shine through.
